The PCAM Proclamation Team
They say there is a reason to why something happens in our lives. In 2009 when Ray was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. I could not understand why this was happening to us. What did I know about prostate cancer? Nothing, I was clueless. There was one thing for sure, sitting back and doing nothing was not in my future!

We just got word that the Prostate Cancer Research Program has been increased to $100M for Fiscal Year 2018. This marks a $10M increase; bringing the program back to 2001 funding levels.
Most importantly, your trips to DC, your phone calls, your emails, your engagement across the country with advocates paid off. I'm incredibly grateful for your boundless passion and dedication to this wonderful family of ZERO champions!
This news will give a universe of hope for the far too many men and families we all personally know today who are hanging on for the help this increase will generate.

Proclamation Team
You can help save our men in Ohio from prostate cancer - you are needed to be part of the solution by joining my Ohio Proclamation Team!
Our elected officials can help us raise much needed awareness by issuing an official Proclamation that you can make happen.
Once we secure official Proclamations across Ohio, you get to accept in person the Proclamation, say a few words about why we all don't want anyone else to go through what we all have been through in battling prostate cancer. I know from experience that you can make such an impact by sharing your personal story.
My husband and I have shared our experiences at many of the Council meetings in Cities, Villages and Townships. And have been invited to the Ohio Statehouse to testify at the USPSTF hearings on both sides of the house. We were able to inspire others to get involved. We have had men, families and Elected Officials so moved to share their own story with us. Too many men are affected by this disease.
I want to encourage other communities to get involved as well in making prostate cancer a thing of the past. So it would be great if you can take pictures at the presentations to share on social media. We will also add a photo of the proclamation or resolution to our map and on our website.
Please let me know that you can help by sharing the following with me:
Name:
City:
Township:
Survivor or Caregiver:
Would you like to share your story?
Are you a ZERO champion?
I am excited to work with you!

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
Whereas, this year approximately 164,690 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the United States alone every year – that’s one man every 3.2 minutes and roughly 29,430 die this year from the disease – which is one man every 18 minutes; and
Whereas, in Ohio an estimated 5,810 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed and an estimated 1,110 deaths will occur in 2018; and
Whereas, Men with relatives – father, brother, son – with a history of prostate cancer are twice as likely to develop the disease; and
Whereas, Prostate cancer is most commonly diagnosed cancer in American Men and the third leading cause of cancer death behind lung and colon cancer; and
Whereas, 1 in 9 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime. 1 in 6 African American men will develop prostate cancer in his lifetime. Overall, African American men are 1.7 times more likely to be diagnosed with—and 2.3 times more likely to die from—prostate cancer than white men.
Whereas, Veterans who are exposed to herbicides like Agent Orange are at increased risk for developing prostate cancer, and are more likely to have an aggressive form of the disease; and
Whereas, Education regarding prostate cancer and early detection strategies is critical to saving lives, preserving, and protecting our families. The economic and social burden of prostate cancer is huge; and
Whereas, If caught early prostate cancer has a five-year survival rate of nearly 100%. However for late stage prostate cancer the five-year survival rate is 29%; and
Whereas, all men are at risk for prostate cancer and we encourage the citizens of (City) to increase the importance of prostate screenings.
Still dreaming
Mom, I think this is the closest we will every get to The White House! 😔
Still keeping the dream alive.
