Relay for Life

We went to the Relay for Life Event in Canal Winchester and seen this. I asked where I could buy one and Emily said she would find out for me. But then I got an email from her and said that they were giving it to me for all that I am doing. It brought tears to my eyes!
I got it in the mail today!

Today at this time we were up and not so ready to start the day sorta. Ray Hoetger was having his Prostatectomy on this day 5 years ago. The surgery took about 8 hours and I was praying that everything was going to be fine and the cancer would be gone. But that was not the case. After the surgery the doctor came out and gave me an update. Another I am sorry but..... the cancer has spread to the lymph-nodes. And he still has prostate cancer and will still need treatment. So again I felt like I slammed into a brick wall (June 19th and October 12th).
Yes I know it is not my cancer per say but as the caregiver/wife we pull a double duty. Not only do we take care of our loved ones we also have to remember to take time for ourselves. Which many times I forget to do that for myself.

Mayor Compton Pataskala,Ohio

Great idea and I will follow thru. Let's keep in touch.

Mayor Brad McCloud Reynoldsburg, Ohio

I will be honored to be among the first mayors to issue such a proclamation.
Thank you.  My office will be in touch with you.
 Brad McCloud, Mayor

Mayor Rebecca Stinchcomb Gahanna, Ohio

Would you like one that reads Prostate Cancer awareness Day in Gahanna on October 11th? I'd be happy to provide one. Do you wish it mailed or would you like to pick it up?

We could possibly light up city hall next September, but we would need to talk about that a month or two ahead of time. Does your organization provide the lights? We haven't installed such lights to do this regularly, I'm afraid.

I am copying our Public Information Manager Niel Jurist, and administrative assistant Shelly Penn on this email. They assist me with this type of request.

Shelly- can you prepare the proclamation for me? Thanks.

Linda, years ago I recorded a PSA on the radio to support Prostate Cancer Awareness.. I still hear it broadcast every once in awhile!

Becky Stinchcomb

Letter to Mayor's

Dear Mayor

My name is Linda and I am the wife & caregiver of a Prostate Cancer Survivor of 5 years now, and the mom of 4 sons. When we were told the devastating news that my husband has an aggressive form of this horrible disease, we were both stunned, shocked and horrified. Even 5 years later I am still shocked, stunned and horrified that prostate cancer does not get the same support in September for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month as October does for Breast Cancer. Which it is my mission to change it in Ohio I can not do this alone that is why I am contacting all the Mayor's of Ohio for your help! For my family every month is Prostate Cancer Awareness month 24/7 365.

Last year I contacted Governor Kasich's office to inquire about a Resolution for September in Ohio. Sadly there was not one, but I asked what was need to have one written and signed. We need the text to put into the Resolution. Not a problem I contacted the person need to gather the text and sent it to the Governor's office. I am happy to say that as of September 1, 2014 in the state of Ohio the first Resolution was written and signed for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month by Governor John R. Kasich. It is time now for the cities to get involved and write and sign a Proclamation for the Prostate Cancer Community to help raise awareness for the moth of September. I grew up in the town of Whitehall, Ohio and so with the Resolution in hand I went to Mayor Maggard's office and again asked what I needed to have a a city Proclamation signed. We just need a copy of the Resolution.

Whitehall, Ohio is the first city in Ohio to sign a Proclamation and now it is time for the other cities to get involved and support Prostate Cancer Awareness in September. I know that September is over but my challenge to you is by next September your city will also support me in raising awareness.

I would love to see your City Hall illuminated BLUE in September even for one day is a start or even the whole month would show the families of prostate cancer that We are not alone in the fight to raise awareness.

Sincerely,
Linda H
