Proclamation for every city in Ohio

I need your help getting Ohio to be the first state to have a Proclamation in every city. I am trying to contact every Mayor in Ohio many I have tried with Email, E-Gov or by Facebook. I have a list that I keep with the date of contact but so far many of them have not responded.
I was thinking of adding all the cities that I have contacted on my blog and have them listed as awaiting response.Hoping that this might generate support.
Also there is a contact form on there that they can send me an email to add their city. ‪#‎Ohio‬ ‪#‎Mayors‬ ‪#‎Proclamations‬ ‪#‎Prostate‬ ‪#‎ProstateCancer‬

Petey goes to Washington, DC

Next month Petey will be in Washington, DC and will be on Capitol Hill on the 18th of March raising awareness for Prostate Cancer.

Last year Governor Kasich signed the first Resolution for Ohio that September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month. It pays to be persistent! After I got the Resolution written I did not stop there. It was time to get the Mayor's of Ohio involved as well. So I started writing to the Mayor's as well to see about a Proclamation for the cities in September also.

Currently 59 cities have committed to either writing one now or have one prepared by September. I am so Thankful to the Mayor's for helping raise awareness in Ohio and also sharing their stories with me. It is my hope that one day all the cities in Ohio will have a Proclamation in Place for Prostate Cancer Awareness month.

THANK YOU! The map has all the cities list who are participating so far.

On our way

Before we got to the Ohio Statehouse Petey seen this big head! Take a picture Mom! Take a pictire!

The National Champions!

OH..IO!
Yesterday at the Ohio Statehouse the National Championship Trophy was on display for everyone to see and take pictures. Petey wanted his picture taken with it as well.

Oh what I won't do for Petey!

My Blog

It is so amazing to see how many cities in Ohio are support my efforts to raise awareness for Prostate Cancer. When I started Ohio did not have a Resolution from Governor Kasich. But with my persistence one was written September 1, 2014. I did not stop there why not get the cities involved with writing a Mayor's Proclamation. So I wrote a letter from my heart on why Prostate Cancer Awareness is so important to me shared my story and asked if they would support me with a Proclamation.

The overwhelming support keeps pouring in and others are sharing their story as well. My hopes is that all the cities in Ohio will have a Proclamation for Prostate Cancer Awareness month in September. I have a map of all the cities that have made a commitment and it is listed here. If you do not see your city ask them to contact me on my blog. I would love to add them!

Petey's helping Mom!

I am helping Mom raise awareness for Prostate Cancer as well. I was created one day to help bring into light that the prostate is the size of a walnut. Now I travel with here where ever she goes. We have participated in a few Commit to Be Fit Walks and she will take pictures of my on the trails and share them on my blog. I want to let families know that even with prostate cancer you can still enjoy life.
I have many followers all over the world.

As you see Mom is now asking a huge favor from the Mayor's of Ohio for a Proclamation from your city to also raise awareness in September for Prostate Cancer Awareness month.  Many of you have made a commitment but we still have hundreds of cities in Ohio that we need to reach and get their support. On our blog we have a map of all the cities who are participating and if you do not see your city please contact us. We would love to have a Proclamation from your city as well as to have it show cased on our blog for all to see!

We attend a Prostate Cancer Summit in Washington, DC yearly and on the last day Mom attends meetings on Capitol Hill and talks with the Senators and Congresswoman about research and funding for prostate cancer.

Can you please help my Mom in asking other cities to help support us!

My story

As my life has changed from Wife to Wife/Caregiver and Advocate of a Prostate Cancer Survivor these words are never so TRUE! On June 19, 2009, I was not prepared to hear that my 56 year old husband would be diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. Can I say this story that we are writing now is and easy one to write? No it is not easy as there are so many highs and lows that we deal with. We had to learn a new Foreign language...PSA, Gleason, IMRT, and countless other terms. We have to fight for our voices to be heard as when you say Prostate Cancer people run the other way.
But the one very important thing that I have learned in telling my story we not ALONE living with prostate cancer we have a new branch of family to add to our tree. Sadly some of the branches have lost but not forgotten. And many more families have to hear those dreaded words makes me fight that much harder for Prostate Cancer Awareness!
I have been writing to the Mayors of Ohio in hopes that they will put in place a Proclamation for Prostate Cancer Awareness month. So far 27 cities have either done one or planning on doing one in September. It is my hopes that one day all the cities will have one but there are still hundreds of cities to go. I started this here in Ohio and other prostate cancer families want to get it started in their own states.
It would be nice to see all the states challenge each other to see who would be the first state to have the full support from the Cities elected officials.

Science Center of Iowa

Last month when we were at the #NASAGlenn #NASASocial for the #ORION tour. Petey was on his Twitter and #SCIOWA tweeted Ask an Astronaut a question. The top 20 will get a Orion Pin. Thank You Science Center of Iowa!

So Petey asked the question. What made you decide to become an Astronaut? Petey's question was in the Top 20! Amazing on what my little nut is doing now a days.

The Whitehouse BLUE!

Finally the Whitehouse has listened to the pleas of the Prostate Cancer families.
Only if it was not Photoshopped. Maybe someday it will be true!

Winter fun!

During the early morning hours here in Columbus, Ohio. We are suppose to get 2-6 inches of snow. Do you know how hard it is going to be to keep Petey out of the snow with his toys.
