12th Annual PCA Golf Outing

On September 13, 2020 the 12th Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Golf Scramble will tee off with a shotgun start at 8 AM at Clinton Heights Golf Course. Registration begins at 730 AM but preregistrations are welcome and recommended since this event fills up every year.

Some history … In 2005 there was an awareness of an acute need for more readily available information regarding prostate cancer. The decision was made to establish The Prostate Cancer Awareness Fund within the Tiffin Community Foundation and to raise money for that purpose. In 2009 the fund advisors began raising money in earnest to promote awareness of this disease that effects one in six men and their families.

Since then over $80,000 has been for the cause and $35,000 has been donated to the Mercy Health Foundation to support their efforts to educate the community about prostate cancer. The intent is to grant another $7,500 this year to the Mercy Health Foundation. Please contact Bernie Steinmetz, Annal Programs, Events and Sponsorship Officer at the Mercy Health Foundation (419-455-7049) (Bernie_Steinmetz@mercy.com) to plan an awareness event at your workplace!

  • The cost to golf is $200 per team and includes 18 holes with a cart, hot dogs at the turn with lunch to follow. Text Steve at 419-618-3277 to secure your spot!

  • If you or your company would like to donate items to be part of our raffle, please contact Laura at 419-689-1665.

  • The cost to sponsor a hole is $25 (minimum) and your generous donations are gratefully accepted. Please send to: PCA – Tiffin Community Foundation, ATTN: Mike Reser, 1705 Lakeview Drive, Tiffin, OH 44883. Or you may send via VENMO: @SUE-RESER.

  • Come prepared to participate in a 50/50 drawing as well as various raffles.

The Prostate Cancer Awareness Fund advisors are sincerely grateful for your generosity through the years and remain passionate about educating local communities about prostate cancer and men’s health in general. The Fund looks forward to more opportunities to continue this effort thanks to and because of all who have participated and/or have donated in the past and who currently continue to do so.

Signature Petition for ZERO The End Of Prostate Cancer License Plates

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness and Education Month. You always see license plates for all sorts of causes, except for one. Prostate cancer. I wanted to change that. In Ohio an estimated 7,030 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed. Education regarding prostate cancer and early detection strategies is critical to saving lives, preserving, and protecting our families.

We need at least 150 valid names of intent to purchase. I’m asking for 250 or more names just in case.

Funds from the ZERO The End Of Prostate Cancer license plates would stay in Ohio to provide free patient navigation services to reduce financial toxicity among prostate cancer and free transportation for prostate cancer patients to doctor appointments.

https://www.facebook.com/ZERO-The-End-Of-Prostate-Cancer-License-Plate-Petition-Ohio-111076324022440/

You will find a copy of the Signature form on the Facebook page. Please feel free to share with your family, friends, co-workers, Network.

With the COVID-19 crisis, all major events have been canceled. So it is making it more challenging to get the needed signatures. That is why I’m asking for your help. If you would like to help with signatures or sign for yourself. I would greatly appreciate it. We can not move forward until we have the names. You can email me the names on the form. It can be one or all seven lines filled. Please feel free to share it with others as well! Email the form to Linda@zerocancer.org

The Patch on 37 Smiles of Sunflowers

Today we went to The Patch on 37. It is filled with Sunflowers that you can walkthrough. You get to pick one sunflower per person. And as you can see Petey also tagged along. He was being his normal self and taking pictures on the sunflowers. So many sunflowers to look at.

Petey's favorite sunflower is the Chianti!

Whereas, Education regarding prostate cancer and early detection strategies is critical to saving lives, preserving, and protecting our families. The economic and social hardship it has on the families is huge; Prostate cancer is estimated to cost over $8 billion in direct medical expenditures: and

Whereas, all men are at risk for prostate cancer and we encourage the citizens of (City) to increase the importance of prostate screenings.

Testimony for the ZERO License plates

ZERO The End Of Prostate Cancer plates

I am so excited! It will now go to the Governor for signature and then becomes law 60 days later. At that point, ODOT can start the process of issuing the plates. So I would say about two months until they begin that process.
