As of today Ohio has 98 Prostate Cancer Awareness commitments from Cities, Villages, Townships, County Commissioners. Thank you all very much! I also want to Thank you again to Senator Ecklund for your support with Prostate Cancer Awareness in District 18. All of these commitments with a Proclamation or Resolution will send a message to those battling this horrible disease that they are not alone in this fight and we all care. Some men are not ready to speak up with their Journey yet as prostate cancer has a different impact with our loved ones. When I started contacting Elected Officials from across Ohio in 2013 I could share my Journey as a caregiver. Ray and I have been invited to Council meetings to receive the Proclamations and Resolutions and share our story. After the meetings those who have been impacted by prostate cancer will share their story with us and now have the courage to share with others. One Survivor had been battling for 18 years and never told his family or friends. Now he had the courage to do so!
Not everyone will be able to share their story right now, one day they might be able too. One thing for sure as a wife/caregiver of a Survivor I am here for those men and families to let them know they are not alone in their battle.
In Ohio there are an estimated 5,810 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed and an estimated 1,110 deaths will occur in 2018.
