Giving our Feedback

Hi Linda, my name is Dr. David Hall, a urologist outside of Indianapolis. I'm working on a patient centered urology app and came across your prostate cancer page when doing some research. Our goal is to help connect patients and families struggling with specific urology conditions such as prostate cancer. We've created a beta version we're testing now to elicit feedback on the platform, the functionality, and the idea. I'd love to have your feedback on whether it would be something you'd find useful and perhaps see if you knew of anyone also interested in testing the idea. With time, we hope to build a social health tool to connect people around their health problems, questions, etc. It's only urology for now, but the plan is to expand to all specialties and even other allied health fields, fitness, etc.

Thanks for responding, no worries! I really appreciate your time and am glad to hear your husband is a Prostate cancer survivor! Yes, it is hard to get people to talk about Prostate cancer. The app we're creating is designed to help connect others around health conditions affecting them. You can login with any social account or simply create an account. After building a profile, you can explore topics such as Prostate cancer and as users join, even connect with others going through the same thing. The website is currently located at myud.sixfeetup.com (temporary location while we "test" the platform and function and gain feedback). I again appreciate your time and hope you're able to sign up and take it for a spin. Any feedback would be helpful. For example, what do you think of the idea, would you use it, would you invite others, how would you make it better? If there are other page members or friends and family that you think would benefit, feel free to share. I'll be sure
To check out his FB and blog also. Awesome mascot too!

Original Petey

Petey wanted to share how much he has changed since 2009! The Petey is the center of the first picture is the Original Petey. This was when I first started making him, then as time and Generations progressed I made a few changes and added props to him. When people see him they know why they walnut!

what i am known as

Have you ever wondered why a Walnut? Or Why I am known as Petey's Mom?
It all came from when my husband and I we attending a support group meeting for prostate cancer in 2009. Our leader sent around a plain walnut and said "This is the size of a prostate". When it came to me I sat there thinking what can I do to make this into something. Hummm....add some arms, feet, hands, eyes. And that is when Petey the Prostate Crusader was born!
From then on he became our Mascot for prostate cancer events and my way to raise awareness for this horrible disease. How did I become known as Petey's Mom, I walked into a support group meeting and hear a Survivor shout there's Petey's Mom and it has stuck every sense. Petey goes with me everywhere even to Capitol Hill were we have talked with Senators, Congresspersons and Legislative Assistants about prostate cancer. I share my story as a Wife/Caregiver and Mom of 4 Sons. Sharing how devastating this has been on me as the Wife is hard and also being the Caregiver is even harder. But having Petey with me gives me hope that in raising awareness one day prostate cancer will be a thing in the past.
So if you ever see Petey out please feel free to come and say Hi! You never know where he will be raising awareness.

Feeling Blessed

When I started requesting Cities and Villages in Ohio, for a Proclamation my map was bare. WOW look at it now 141 markers of Proclamations and Commitments for September. Thank you for your support I. Raising awareness to Prostate Cancer in your Cities and Villages.

New Cards

Petey is always going with me raising awareness for prostate cancer. He ran out of  cards that have his blog site, and so he wanted me to make him some more. He seems to be happy with these.

Hi Linda,

We received the “Petey visits Patient Resource” you created and we love it. Thank you so much for sending him to visit with us and for agreeing to share your and your husband’s story with our readers. I think the creation of Petey is a wonderful new step in the need to create awareness around prostate cancer. We wish you the best as you advocate for this important cause. We will be featuring Petey in Cancer Guide as well as through our enewsletter and twitter/Facebook accounts. Our CEO now has one of the Petey figures in his office on display.

Best, Debby

Oh Linda…..Petey has arrived in all of his glory and has made this Monday exceptionally better than any other I can remember! You have no idea how impressed the entire office is with Petey and his people – thank you so very much for making that happen! He is even better in 3D – you do great work!!!

My Mission for Prostate Cancer Awareness

When I started this in September of 2014 it was amazing  of the emails that I received. Many of them with I did not know that Prostate Cancer had a month, and Thank you for your efforts to raise awareness. But 108 cities and villages later they are also supporting my efforts to raise awareness.

Please feel free to use the Whereas on my blog and contact your city or village and ask your Mayor to write a Proclamation for Prostate Cancer Awareness month in September.
