Cleveland, Tennessee 2018

I was Excited to see a big brown envelpe in the Proclamation box. I seen Cleveland and thought Ohio. But this is even more excitingly, I emailed the Mayor of Cleveland, Tennessee asking for his support and he said Yes! Thank you Mayor Tom Rowland for your support with Prostate Cancer Awareness and Education.

The importance of Prostate Cancer Awareness and Education!

Working with ZERO has given me so many more opportunities to help raise awareness and to be part of ending prostate cancer. Each year Ray and I speak to our elected officials at the Annual ZERO Prostate Cancer Summit in Washington, D.C., and work locally in Ohio to secure proclamations from each local government Each September, the nation recognizes declaring September as Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Currently Representative Brown and Representative Scott Lipps along with 5 Co-Sponsors are assisting us with House Bill 570 passed. This Bill is for Prostate Cancer Awareness license plates. As of June 20, 2018 I am pleased to advise that the ZERO license plate bill, HB 570, was unanimously passed out of committee this morning!  10 Yeas and 0 Nays from Transportation Committee Members, we are over our first hurdle!

1 in 9  men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime. Someone in your family or you may know someone impacted by prostate cancer.  Your support is needed as education and awareness for prostate cancer is limited across the nation. Prostate cancer awareness month is in September, although I am starting early contacting everyone. In hopes that you to can encourage your surrounding communities to join us in raising awareness and education so men can make an informed decision if treatment is needed in their lifetime. Your support means the world to those battling this horrible disease and gets men talking and veterans sharing their story as well. While men are sharing their story, other men and families know they are not alone in this fight and in turn encourage others to share also.

2018 Letters of Support, Proclamations, Resolutions and Commitments

Elected Official friends,

As you may know for the past 5 years I have been asking for your support with Prostate Cancer Awareness. I send out emails daily from my database of close to 9,000 Elected Officials and staff  to those I have contact information for. I still have lots of blank spots but the work continues.  I am reaching out to you in hopes that you will consider my request. I share my story with you and many have shared yours with me. I am so greatful for your suport and blessed to hear your stories as well. Hearing that some are Survivors over 15 years or more makes my mission well worth it. We have been on this journey for 9 years, and my husband is still in Remission.

Many have sent copies of the Proclamations and  Resolutions. These are displayed during events for prostate cancer at events throughout Ohio. Which also lets the families know that they are not alone in your communities and you also know the importance of education and awareness. This year 154 Cities, Villages and Townships have said yes!

The White House

I have requested the Presidential Proclamation for National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month from the White House for the past couple of years.

In 2014 and 2015 I received it. In 2015 there was a letter from President Barrack Obama with his support. Also a signed card. I will never know if it was him personally or auto penned. Either was a Proclamation that is now framed!

I have requested from President Trump's office that same Presidential Proclamation since he took office in 2016. Sadly every September I have been let down. I have even offered to go to Washington, DC to pick it up. It is so important to the Prostate Cancer Survivors and families to know that they have the support for Education and Awareness. So that one day there will be a cure for prostate cancer and our loved ones will not have to hear those dreaded words. You have prostate cancer.

164,690 men in 2018 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and roughly 29,430 men will die from the disease. I am the wife of a Survivor, Mother of 4 sons and Grandmother of 2 toddler grandsons. One is Bi-racial with prostate cancer on both sides.

When my husband was diagnosed June 1o, 2009 with an aggressive form of prostate cancer I was clueless to what this disease was. You hardly hear anyone talk about it like the other cancers. There were many questions asked by the Doctor. One of which. Is there a family history of prostate cancer? No. So then we were trying to nail down why we are hearing this horrible news.

There is one possible explanation. Ray was in the Military. His first four years as a firefighter, then he crossed trained into Weather. While doing research I learned that some of the Installations he was assigned to were contaminated from Agent Orange in the United States. Sadly he was denied Agent Orange compensation as he was never stationed in Vietnam.

Ray is in Remission and I am greatful. His cancer spread outside the prostate into the lymphnodes. So I can never say cured as we know this disease can rear its ugly head at anytime. We live one day at a time!

This year Senators and Congressman Steve Stivers has supported with Citations and Commendations. Currently Ohio has 142 Proclamations, Resolutions, Senatorital Commendation, Citations and Commitments from Ohio, New York, North Carolina and Georgia. Thank you!
August and September is busy for Ray and I traveling all over Ohio for Proclamation readings and presentations. This year we have team members who are also attending readings. And I am greatful to have them on the #Proclamationteam!

Field and Stream Petey

This scene was one of my favorites!
The other day we learned a dad will be going through radiation soon. The daughter will be visiting him soon, so I gave her this scene to give to her dad.
I had no clue her dad loves fishing and camping. 💙😁💙

Car Show Petey

A Survivor out in Cheyenne, Wymoing asjked me to do a Petey scene for him. He provided the car as he owns one that is in the scene. It only takes a few days usually to create the scenes. Some have taken longer from creators block.
