Every year for the past eight years Petey has come to Capitol Hill with me asking for research and funding from our elected officials in Ohio. This day on the Hill was a busy day. There were three of us this day. We had six meetings that day. Our first meeting was with Senator Portman's LA at 11:00am Sadly this LA seemed he was not in the mood to hear what we had to say. Our next meeting was with Senator Brown's LA's at 11;30am. Both aides were eager to hear our stories. The men shared their journey as the patient/survivor. Then-Senator Brown LA's asked me. What are the needs of the caregiver? People do care about the caregivers on this journey with our loved ones as well.
Our third meeting was with Representative Beatty's LA. Unfortunately, our schedule said 2;30pm but her office had us down for 3:30pm, Sadly we were unable to meet with this LA at that time as we already had a meeting scheduled. Our 3:00pm meeting was with Representative Kaptur's LA. She was attentive to hear what we had to say. And shared that she knows others impacted by prostate cancer. Off to our next meeting at 3:30pm with Representative Ryan's LA. And rounded off our day with Representative Chabot's LA. Ken who was with us lives in this district and corresponds with his office frequently. The LA said to wait a few minutes and then came back with Representative Chabot. We got to personally talk with him and of course, Petey made an appearance. The LA brought out the camera and took pictures of us talking about Petey. I need to make Representative Chabot a special Petey and send it to him. If I get a copy of the picture I will share it too!
